ScrapDiary 1.0 is a diary/scrapbook application which allows text, sounds, movies and pictures to be stored on diary pages. Pages can be located by date or by searching for specified words or phrases.
System requirements: color Macintosh preferred, System 7.x or greater, QuickTime™ 2.x, AT LEAST 4 MB of free RAM (5 MB for the PPC version), and text-to-speech extensions. 8 MB of RAM or greater preferred (9 MB for the PPC version).
Note: If you do not need text-to-speech capability, ScrapDiary 1.0 will run without the text-to-speech software extensions installed.
Important: Although ScrapDiary saves your diary under the file name you give it, a temporary file is also created with the same name and with the suffix "keys." For example, if you name your diary "Summer '96" then a temporary file named "Summer '96 keys" will also be created in the same folder. This file is created every time you open a diary and is removed when you close the diary. Therefore, you do not normally see it. However, you can see this file by switching to the Finder when a diary is open. DO NOT REMOVE or MOVE this file. ScrapDiary uses this temporary file to locate your diary entries. If ScrapDiary is terminated because of a system error or power failure while a diary is open, then the "keys" file will remain on the disk. This is OK — you can open the diary in the usual way after you have rebooted you computer. The "keys" file will be removed when you close the diary. If you move your diary and the "keys" file is present be sure to move this file with your diary. Remember, you don't need to worry about this "keys" file under normal circumstances. Nevertheless, you should make copies of your diaries frequently (see the section "Backing-up and Making a Copy" below). It is also recommended that you keep your diaries short; i.e. for 1 year or less.
